Sutton Public Schools students, what are you reading this summer? Research suggests that reading 20 minutes every day can help combat the 'Summer Slide' that sets learners back when they return in the fall. A couple picture books at bedtime, some time set aside after lunch to get lost in a chapter book, a favorite magazine, a bird watching guide book, a biography....reading is reading is reading! Find something you love to read and keep reading over the summer!
We had a retirement on the elementary side this year that we celebrated at the end of our day. Daphne may come back to school from time to time, but today marks an end to her time as a full-time Therapy Dog at Sutton Public Schools. She served our students and staff over the years with company and gentleness. What a GOOD DOG!
Kindergarten through 2nd grade went for a picnic in the park this afternoon, while 3rd - 5th graders got to enjoy a fantastic bunch of field day events planned and lead by our fabulous 6th graders! What a GREAT last day of school!!!
Elementary Families, here are some reminders for the next couple days:
Students will come home TODAY with their classroom teacher placement for next year, and step-up day will be tomorrow morning. Students will get to meet their teacher for next year and get to know them a bit. We will also be watching a movie in the theater tomorrow afternoon.
Thursday will be the elementary awards convocation at 9:00 AM in the theater. Families and community members are welcome to attend.
Thursday will also be a sack lunch/picnic day! Students may bring a sack lunch from home or get one from our cafeteria. We would like to get a rough count tomorrow so our kitchen staff know about how many lunches they need to prepare, so if you could let your child know their plan for THURSDAY'S lunch ASAP, that would be helpful.
