Striv.tv; What is this all about?

Well, I’ll tell ya what.  Striv has been an evolving process for about one year now. The idea of Striv was in waiting but building momentum.

One year ago, we decided to launch a news website ‘test pilot’ in Henderson to see what kind of response it would get.  That’s all there was to it; HeartlandBeat.com was born.  Started off slow and with a lot of trial and error, but the ball was rolling and we got very excited. As HeartlandBeat.com built itself, we decided to step up our game.  What is the next level for the community of Henderson and Bradshaw?  We discovered what direction we wanted to head…live streaming.

How cool would it be for family, friends, etc to not only be able to read about the community events on the website, but be able to watch the actual event take place…LIVE!?  We were excited to see how this new component would play out.

We initially began using a free live stream service through USTREAM.  The word ‘free’ being very appealing to us at the time.  We began streaming the high school’s sporting events, concerts, church events, etc live on our site using USTREAM.  We got great response from our viewers, except for one large aspect; unwanted ads.  Due to the service being free, we had no control over what ad would pop up and when it would pop up.  Pivotal moments of our events were getting interrupted with ads, sometimes they were somewhat inappropriate for the event.

We moved to plan B.  Purchasing USTREAM service free of ads.  This, too, worked well except for when our viewer numbers increased, therefore, our viewer hours increased as well.  This caused a large spike in the cost of the service.

After plan B came to a crashing halt, we thought to ourselves, “There has GOT to be a better way!” Live streaming is the future and there has got to be a customizable, ad free, affordable service that fits our needs.  The problem was; there wasn’t.

So we did the most logical thing we could think of…we created our own live streaming service.

First things first, we hooked up with Limelight, a leading CDN (Content Delivery Network) provider.  As our new back end provider, they gave us the hook up! Limelight partnered with us and put our branding on the product.  Now, this ball was rolling at a pretty good pace.  We now would have the capability of taking our newly created product of live streaming to schools, colleges, churches, etc for them to use. A product that we searched for for such a long time and could not find.  It is now here…Streaming You Live; That’s Striv!

Striv.tv’s ‘launch,’ so to speak was the Southern Nebraska Conference basketball tournament in Milford, NE.  Striv.tv was hooked up in both gyms and was a complete success. Over the two day tournament and no real publicity, there were hundreds of viewers online; no unwanted ads, just basketball. This was and is our the next level.  We then developed and launched the website, www.striv.tv.  Clients and potential clients can now, not only have the live streaming service; they can have their own customized channel on our site.

Striv.tv is just starting, but we are excited for the promising outlook.  There are so many unique features that must be appealing to people searching for the right live streaming service.  Some of which are:

  • Initial training and ongoing support
  • Educating students and creating learning opportunities while live streaming
  • Fully customized video live stream player as long as there is internet and a camera
  • Ability to live stream and have your own ad choices and local advertising program
  • NO random pop up ads, NO disruptions
  • We have the top encoding software; Wirecast to enhance live streaming experience
  • Live chat via facebook plugin
  • Archive availabilities
  • Customizable package to meet YOUR needs.
