Are you a teacher who is struggling with getting consistent viewership on the events that you live stream? Social media might be your new best friend! Here’s how you can promote your live stream on social media.
Many people tend to think of social media as just sharing photos or videos with their friends. But in reality, it is a powerful tool that can help drive viewers to every event that you live stream.
In this blog post, we will examine some simple ways that teachers can use social media to promote live streams, without spending a ton of time or money. With the right strategy, you can reach a larger audience and make sure that your game is seen by as many people as possible!
Effective Social Media Usage = Increased Viewership
Utilizing social media for your school’s live stream allows you to reach a wider audience in less time compared to traditional marketing methods. While also being surprisingly cost-effective.
One way that you can use social media to drive viewership to your live stream is to create gameday graphics. Gameday graphics include the time and location of the event and what schools and teams are participating.
Having your students make these graphics is an incredible way to engage them through digital media education. If you look at any company’s social media pages they are constantly putting out graphics, this is a great way for your students to develop skills that will help them in future careers.

The biggest key to using social media to increase viewership is consistency. Make sure that you are posting graphics, photos, tweets, etc. for every single event that you are planning to stream.
If you are a school that streams multiple events every week it is crucial that you are organized in how you are using social media. Other schools have found that a content calendar keeps them on track as well as keeps students engaged with posting on social media.
There is no perfect way to use social media, it will look different for every school. But the most important thing is to be consistent and post high-quality content that your audience will engage with.
Keep these tips in mind when choosing a social media strategy for your school:
- Use hashtags/mentions to share detailed game information
- Challenge students to create engaging and creative content
- Remain consistent in posting content to social media
- Post to multiple social media platforms
